NFL Betting - Colts Clinch Division, Saints Continue to Impress
Dec 1st, 2009 by admin
NFL betting was never easier last weekend: if you were looking for easy money, the best bets were on the Colts and Saints winning their respective contests. After all was said and done, it came as no surprise that the Colts defeated the Houston Texans 35-27, while the Saints beat New England in convincing style, 38-17 (ouch Pats fans, that REALLY hurts). So what comes next for the top teams in the NFL?
The Colts successfully clinched their division with their win over the Texans on Sunday, which is not really surprising considering their spot free 11-0 record. Peyton Manning and his team have bullied opponents off the field, (save a close one with the Patriots Week 10), proving to everyone that they’re the best in the league. Now, all they have to do is sit back, relax, and coast their way into the playoffs. At the official NFL.com website, an article titled “What if the Season ended today?” was ALREADY posted, and it speculated that the Colts might be contenders in this season’s Super Bowl IF they stay strong after regular season play closes.
Over in the NFC, the same goes for the Saints, who, like the Colts, have an amazing 11-0 record. They haven’t officially clinched their division yet, but that honor is only a few passes away for Drew Brees and his bang up squad of football players. If one were to compare the Saints and Colts, it could be argued that the Saints are clearly the superior team: they’ve won every game by a wide margin. They crushed the Patriots 38-17 last weekend; while the Colts scraped by a tenacious New England team by 1 point during Week 10. There’s already whispers, even shouts, that the Saints will plow their way right into Super Bowl 44, maybe even doing so undefeated. The show’s not over yet: New Orleans fans still have the post season to worry about.
After the “undefeateds”, we have the Minnesota Vikings, who currently sport a 10-1 record. You’ve got to hand it to Brett Favre: he’s pulled off an amazing come back season, surpassing some of his own records set way back when he was in his “prime”. A Saints-Vikings NFC playoff would be cool for sure.
Following the Colts, Saints, and Vikings, we have a trio of 8-3 teams: The Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, and San Diego Chargers. Most people expected Dallas and San Diego to do well this season, but the Bengals are a pleasant surprise addition to this elite group. They’re 4-1 over their last 5 games, and COULD face the Colts in the AFC playoffs. Imagine that game: brute force Colts vs. the stubborn Bengals, who have really impressed sports fans this year outdoing all preseason expectations.
Week 12 is on tap for the first weekend in December, so hold on to your hats. As we inch closer and closer to the post season, will the Saints and Colts remain undefeated this month? Will the Bengals clinch the ACN? It’s going to be fun to watch for sure.
