The Saints Bountygate appeals to be heard today
Apr 5th, 2012 by dmack
Goodell hears appeals today, final decision expected early next week.
The New Orleans Saints staff will have their Bountygate appeals heard today in New York by Commissioner Roger Goodell. Saints head coach Sean Payton, Saints linebackers coach Joe Vitt, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and the Saints as an organization will all have their appeals heard individually with Goodell making a final expedited ruling the first part of next week. Reductions to the penalties are not expected but rather this seems to be a ploy to buy the Saints more time to get their ducks in order prior to the suspensions taking effect.
Late breaking news: Greg Williams pregame audio could doom Saints appeal
This audio has been blowing up on Twitter, just in the last half hour. It’s audio of Saints DC Gregg Williams addressing his defense the night before the 49er playoff game. Listen and make your own conclusions. Please not that this audio has extremely strong language.
Is the Big Tuna headed for Minnesota ???
If Bill Parcells does not wind up in New Orleans, he may want to take a look at the Minnesota Vikings where owner Ziggy Wilf has reportedly offered the Tuna a blank check to take over the organization. The whole scenario seems unlikely even if Parcells decides not hold the fort down in New Orleans. Parcells is 70-years-old and with no real ties to the Viking organization and he’d go back on the clock for five years before he’d be eligible for any kind of HOF consideration.
Ryan Leaf arrested for second time in three days
Former No.2 overall draft pick Ryan Leaf is sitting in a Montana jail after getting arrested on drug and burglary charges for the second time in three days. Leaf could remain in jail for up to 30 days while Montana and Texas figure out what to do with him. Leaf was on probation in Randall County, Tx., and the two states are trying to work through the Randall County prosecutor’s desire to revoke a 10-year suspended sentence he received in 2010 after Leaf pleaded guilty to drug charges while he coached at West Texas A&M. Very sad.
